researchers team up for faster valley fever tests

A collaboration between researchers has resulted in a new test that may speed up diagnosis and treatment of Valley fever, the potentially fatal lung disease.
Working together, UCSF Fresno Associate Clinical Professor Dr. Dominic Dizon and Marilyn Mitchell, supervisor of the microbiology laboratory at Community Regional Medical Center have developed a new DNA test that provides results in hours, rather than the two or more weeks it currently takes for blood or culture tests. Until now as you know, patients suspected of having Valley fever would have to undergo blood work and then wait for results to come back. Read more.
